Hugh Jackman Goes Pumpkin Picking With His Family

It’s that time of year again!

Hugh Jackman, his wife Deborra-Lee Furness and kids Oscar and Ava were spotted yesterday enjoying the afternoon picking pumpkins at the Silverman’s Country Market in Easton, Ct.

The 90 year old ‘pick your own’ farm features a widespread orchard, scenic tractor rides, and petting farm with many types of barnyard animals, and fowl.

Sounds like fun!

Disney Partners With HandsOn Network To Offer Free Entry To 1 Million Volunteers

Disney is offering a free day’s admission to 1 million guests who complete a day of volunteer work next year.

The “Give a Day, Get a Disney Day” program will provide certified volunteers with a one-day ticket to any park at Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif., or Walt Disney World near Orlando, Fla., in 2010.

Would-be volunteers must register online (starting Jan, 2010) with Disney (must be residents of the U.S., Canada or Puerto Rico) to be eligible for the free admission.

Disney is partnering with HandsOn Network, a clearinghouse for volunteer opportunities, to connect people with projects and to certify that the work was done.

“We are trying to inspire 1 million people to volunteer in their communities and we’re inspiring them to do that by giving them a free day at a Disney park,” Jay Rasulo, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, said in a phone interview with The Associated Press.

Rasulo called the promotion “very timely,” citing the increased needs of nonprofits in the weak economy, as well as President Barack Obama’s national volunteering initiative.

I LOVE it!!

This would also be an brilliant way to have your kids earn their way to Disney by helping someone else. Plus it is a productive way to spend some family time together.

TLC Announces ‘Jon & Kate Plus 8’ Will Be Relaunched As ‘Kate Plus 8’

After weeks of tumbling ratings and a never ending barrage of tabloid stories, TLC announced today that they have decided to take the show in a different direction – minus Jon!

“Given the recent changes in the family dynamics, it only makes sense for us to refresh and recalibrate the program to keep pace with the family,” TLC president Eileen O’Neill said in a statement. “The family has evolved and we are attempting to evolve with it; we feel that Kate’s journey really resonates with our viewers.”

Also in the works is a project with Kate for 2010, possibly the talk show we’ve heard rumors of?

“Kate Plus Eight” will continue to focus on the eight Gosselin children — 5 year-old sextuplets and 8 year-old twins — but now “include a deeper focus on Kate’s role…and her journey as a single mother.”

Last week, only 1.7 million viewers tuned in to “Jon & Kate,” nearly 80 percent down from the season premiere.

TLC also said that they would continue their “exclusive” relationship with Jon Gosselin and that he would continue to appear on the series but on a less regular basis.

“Kate Plus Eight” will premiere Nov. 22.
