Angelina Talks To Vanity Fair About Her SEXY Pregnancy

In a new interview with Vanity Fair Angelina Jolie speaks frankly about her love of being pregnant, birth, babies, nannies, and more.

Angelina Jolie on being pregnant:

“I love it. It makes me feel like a woman. It makes me feel that all the things about my body are suddenly there for a reason. It makes you feel round and supple, and to have a little life inside you is amazing. Also, I’m fortunate. I think some women have a different experience depend-ing on their partner. I think that affects it. I happen to be with somebody who finds pregnancy very sexy. So that makes me feel very sexy.”

Angelina Jolie on her international family:

“When I was growing up I wanted to adopt, because I was aware there were kids that didn’t have parents. It’s not a humanitarian thing, because I don’t see it as a sacrifice. It’s a gift. We’re all lucky to have each other. I look at Shiloh—because, obviously, physically, she is the one that looks like Brad and I when we were little—and say, ‘If these were our brothers and sisters, how much would we have known by the time we were six that it took into our 30s and 40s to figure out?’ I suppose I’m giving them the childhood I always wished I had.”

Angelina Jolie on Shiloh’s birth:

“We were in this little hospital in Africa when Shi was born. I don’t think there was anybody else in the hospital. It was just a little cottage, the three of us. It ended up being the greatest thing…. I had a C-section and I found it fascinating. I didn’t find it a sacrifice and I didn’t find it a painful experience. I found it a fascinating miracle of what a body can do.”

Angelina Jolie on nannies:

“We don’t ever have anybody spend the night. We may have to adjust that when the next one comes. But we do have ladies that work with us, and they’re also from different cultures and back-grounds. One lady’s a Vietnamese teacher—wonderful. One is of Congolese descent from Bel-gium. Another is from the States and is really creative and does art programs.”

Angelina Jolie on artists as parents:

“Artists raise their kids differently,” she said. “We communicate to the point where we probably annoy our children. We have art around the house, we have books, we go to plays, we talk. Our focus is art and painting and dress-up and singing. It’s what we love. So I think you can see how artists in some way raise other artists.”

Study: “Every Child Costs The Mother One Tooth”

Wow! A new study that was recently published indicates that women who gave birth to more children tended to lose more teeth during their lives, regardless of whether they were rich or poor.

They examined data on 2,635 U.S. women ages 18 to 64, sorting the nationally representative sample into three categories — low, middle and high socioeconomic status.

In the highest socioeconomic group, women with no children were missing on average less than one tooth, those with one child were missing about two teeth and those with four or more were missing about five teeth.

Among the women in the lowest socioeconomic group, those with no children on average were missing two teeth, those with one child were missing an average of three teeth and those with four or more were missing more than eight teeth.

The trend also held true in the middle socioeconomic group, said the researchers at New York University and Yale University in Connecticut.

“It seems that having more children is related to having fewer teeth,” New York University dental professor Dr. Stefanie Russell, who led the research published in the American Journal of Public Health, said in a telephone interview.

“People might say that happens because women who are poor have more children and women who are poor are not going to be able to afford the dentist,” she said. “But we found that it was true across all socioeconomic levels.”

The study did not break down the results by race.

Well…I have one child and I lost one tooth after I had him – so maybe these researchers are onto something.

Amazing Baby Stuns Doctors By Growing Outside The Womb

Durga Thangarajahhas been hailed as a “miracle” after she survived a full-term pregnancy outside the womb.

The little fighter was delivered by caesarian at Darwin Private Hospital on Thursday, after spending almost nine months growing inside her mother’s right ovary — stretching the organ’s tissue as thin as paper.

Obstetrician Dr Andrew Miller said the chances of a foetus lodging in an ovary were one in 40,000 but that the chances of such a pregnancy producing a healthy baby were almost nil.”It’s an extraordinarily unusual outcome and I am not aware of anyone who has seen a (full) term ovarian pregnancy as we have here,” he told AFP.

“I deliver anything up to 520 (babies) a year here privately and I’ve never seen anything like this before.”

An ectopic pregnancy, in which the foetus develops outside the womb, usually involves the fertilised egg lodging in the fallopian tubes which link the ovaries to the uterus.

The condition places the woman’s life at risk because of the likelihood the foetus will cause a rupture resulting in pain and blood loss, and is usually resolved by a miscarriage or termination.

The mother, 34-year-old Meera Thangarajah, condition was not known because she had not had early pre-natal scans and had had a trouble-free pregnancy.

The doctor believed that he was going to deliver the baby normally from the womb and then remove a large ‘fibroid’ which scans had detected.

It was only after he made the incision that he released that what doctors had misdiagnosed as a fibroid, an overgrowth of the muscle of the womb, was in fact the mother’s womb and the baby was in the ovary. “And you can’t believe that the baby, just by normal movement and that, wouldn’t have caused the sac (inside the ovary) to rupture. It was so paper thin you could see the baby’s hair and so on,” Miller said.

When my son was in the NICU, the nurses told me about a baby born at that hospital under the same conditions. That baby was a legend at our hospital as I am sure this baby will be at this hospital.Congratulations to this family on a safe delivery.Related Articles:

British Couple Abandons IVF Twins After They Are Delivered The ‘Wrong Sex’

A British Couple comprised of a 59-year-old mother and 72-year-old father shocked everyone when the told horrified hospital workers they did not want the “wrong sex” babies immediately after the Caesarean section in the UK.

The babies were conceived in India with fertility treatment. After the procedure the pair returned to England for the birth.

The husband then asked how soon it would be before his wife could try IVF again in the hope of getting a boy to continue the family name.

Female babies are often abandoned in India for being the wrong sex.

The mother — one of Britain’s oldest— discharged herself against the advice of doctors who told her she should stay for more than a week after her operation.

This story shocks me.

Who goes through 40 weeks of pregnancy to abandon their babies minutes after delivery?

I guess someone forgot to tell this couple that you pick your friends not your family!

FDA Proposes New Drug Labels for Pregnant Women

One of the most common questions that moms-to-be have is what medications they can take during their pregnancy and while breast feeding.

U.S. health officials proposed Wednesday changes to the labels on prescription drugs that would detail potential health effects for pregnant and breast-feeding women, their fetuses or their newborns.

The proposed system would replace the current system that relies on letter designations to describe the risks of a drug when taken during pregnancy or breast-feeding. This system was deemed confusing and incomplete.

“The system of letter categories has led to an inaccurate and overly simplified view of prescribing in pregnancy,” Dr. Sandra Kweder, deputy director of FDA’s Office of New Drugs, Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, said during the teleconference. “This system also makes it very difficult to update labeling as new information becomes available,” she added.

There are about six million pregnancies in the United States every year, and pregnant women take an average of three to five prescription drugs during pregnancy. Also, women with pre-existing medical conditions, such as asthma or high blood pressure, may need to use prescription drugs to treat those conditions during pregnancy, the FDA noted.

The information would be split into 3 sections:

  1. Fetal Risk Summary – this section would describe what’s known about the effects of a drug on the fetus and whether the risk is based on results of animal studies or human studies.
  2. Clinical Considerations – would include information about effects associated with the drug if it were taken before a woman knows she is pregnant and it would also outline risks of the disease to the mother and baby, dosing information and how to address complications.
  3. Data – would describe in detail the available information about the drug’s use in humans and animals studies used in developing the “Fetal Risk Summary.”

The FDA began work on redesigning labels of prescription drugs’ effects during pregnancy and breast-feeding in 1997. This process could take up to one year to finish, officials said.

RECALL:Little Tikes Toy Cell Phones Due to Choking Hazard

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with Kids Station Toys International, today announced a voluntary recall of about 1 million Little Tikes Chit ‘N Chat Toy Cell Phones because the hinge cover on the toy cell phone can detach from the phone, posing a choking hazard to young children.

CPSC and the firm have received three reports of the toy breaking, including one report of a child beginning to choke on a small part.

The Little Tikes brand Chit ‘N Chat Toy Cell Phone resembles a flip-phone style cell phone and has a 10-key numeric button pad and three buttons with pictures of animals. All of the buttons make a sound when pressed. The toy phones are multi-colored and have a sticker on the back with model number KSL4010 (sold separately) or KSL8032, KSL8033, or KSL8051 (sold with other items). “Designed and Licensed by Kids Station Toys International Ltd.” is printed on the back of the toy phones. Toy phones with a screw visible on the hinge cover are not subject to the recall.

Parents should take these toy phones away from young children immediately and contact the firm at (888) 620-0930(8-5, M-F) or visit the firm’s Web site at www.kidsstationtoys.com for instructions on obtaining a free replacement.

Flying With US Air? Bring Your Own Snacks

Traveling is about to get harder for parents.

If you are planning to travel via the US Airways Group, bring your own snacks because the airline announced today that it will eliminate free snacks in coach class on all its domestic flights starting June 1st.

US Airways spokesman Morgan Durrant said the move to cut free snacks was needed to save money in a time of extremely high fuel costs. The price of jet fuel has soared this year with crude oil prices in the $130-per-barrel range.

The good news? Thirsty family members will still be able to have a complimentary soft drinks. Well at least for the next month…

My Tip: Fly Jetblue! Our family prefers the larger seats, great service and personal TV’s.

During our trip to Puerto Rico in February we were offered a multitude of snacks and beverages. The staff didn’t bat an eyelash when I asked for an extra bag of yummy cookies. In fact they came through the cabin twice with snacks and beverages during our flight from JFK to San Juan. LOVE IT!!
