Ohio Couple Welcomes Home The Last Of Their Sextuplets

After 3 months of care at the Ohio State University Medical Center the last of McGhee sextuplets was discharged home.

The babies, 4 boys and 2 girls, made news in June when they arrived weighing between 1.5 and 2 pounds each. Now, mom Mia McGhee says her babies are plumping up and range in weight from five to seven pounds.

Baby Isaac was the last to be discharged from intensive
care. He joins siblings Rozonno Jr., Josiah, Elijah, Madison and Olivia.

“He can breathe on his own,” Mia said.  “Just want to make he’s ready
because he had a lot of scar tissue.”

Before leaving the hospital yesterday, a medical team of more than 50 people joined Mia and Rozonno McGhee and their children for a special goodbye party.

“I know the McGhees and I spoke of this day a long time ago,” said Dr. Dave Colombo. “I don’t know if they believed it would actually happen.”

Hospital staff members gave the family gift baskets full of diapers, baby wipes and other
supplies as well as gift certificates provided by Kroger.

“It’s almost like that chapter is closed we’re opening a new one,” Mia said. “I’m happy I’m finally a mother. Like I said, last year we were mourning the loss of our twin boys, and now I have I have six.”

The fun begins now.  The family will likely need a small army of volunteers to help keep them on track.  As many parents of sextuplets have said in the past, raising 6 children at once is a challenge – especially for first time parents.

Houston Couple Welcomes Quintuplets {VIDEO}

An Houston mom has welcomed a set of quintuplets — three boys and two girls – and doctors today expressed optimism that all will survive.

Veronica Mayorga-Real delivered Aaron, Isaac, Priscilla, Joel, and Matilde at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital on Saturday, at 29 weeks 6 days gestation. The babies arrived weighing between 2 1/2 pounds to nearly 4 pounds, which is a good size for quintuplets born10 weeks early.

“They’re all so precious,” the new mom said as she cradled Matilde, the only one not still on oxygen. “To expect smaller babies and then have them this size makes me feel truly blessed.”

Dr. Ursula Nawab, the babies’ neonatologist, said the five children still face challenges but haven’t faced any of the complications low-birthweight babies often experience in the first 90 hours after delivery. She credited Real-Mayorga’s healthy pregnancy and relatively later delivery, at least a couple weeks more than women carrying five or more babies usually deliver.

The birth of quintuplets is no longer uncommon in U.S.  Due to fertility treatments there are 50 sets born annually – but Dr. Nawab said it is rare for all to survive. There are 100 known sets in the world.

Mayorga-Real was taking fertility drugs, but did not do artificial insemination. Already the mom of an 8-year-old boy, she had been trying to conceive again for the past five years.

When she announced that she was expecting 5 babies both her husband and her mother refused to believe her until she e-mailed them a photograph of the ultrasound.

As with many of these pregnancies, Doctors recommended that Veronica reduce the pregnancy to twins to improve the chances of survival, but she refused.

“Any reduction would have to be done by God,” she said.

Houston was the site of the first live-born octuplets in the United States. In 1998, Nkem Chukwu gave birth to six girls and two boys at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital. The smallest of the children died a week later, but the rest recently have been reported to be “normal and active” school children.

Premature Baby Quadruplets Reunited

Much to their parents delight, a set of quadruplets, who were born in January, have been re-united at home after being separated to receive medical care at birth.

Gillian Holden a thirty five year old mother of one (Abbie) defied odds of 750,000-1 and naturally
conceived the set of rare quadruplets. Doctors at the St Mary’s
Children’s Hospital in Manchester, we’re forced to perform an emergency
c-section just 28 weeks into the
pregnancy when Gillian’s kidneys and liver started to fail and she was
diagnosed with pre-eclampsia.  Identical triplets, Bethany, Millie and Ellie arrived first weighing a mere 1lb and 15oz.,  2lb and 2oz., and 1lb and
7oz. respectively. Their sister Lucy, who was separated from her sisters inutero by just a thin membrane, was born last
and weighed 1lb and 14oz.

Due to medical complications the babies were immediately separated
at birth and placed in incubators. Lucy the last born was the first sister
discharged from the hospital in May. Her two sisters Bethany and Millie, who struggle with a disease common in premature babies called chronic lung disease, were released home in June, requiring oxygen. Ellie who was also
diagnosed with chronic lung disease was the last to be reunited with her sisters in
July, after receiving further treatment to help cure her sleep apnea.

Abbie, 9 is ecstatic that her sisters are finally
home. She is already talking about being a big sister and unconditionally
loving them even if they borrow her clothes without asking and use her makeup.

Parents Gillian and Marc are relieved that their family is
finally together after six long months of being separated and that the new
additions are happy and healthy. – Jeff Staff Writer

66 Year-Old Indian Woman Welcomes Triplets

A childless Indian woman has become the oldest person in the world to have triplets – at the unbelievable age of 66.

Bhateri Devi and her husband Deva Singh, 64, are celebrating their arrival of their first, second and third babies nearly 44 years after getting married.

The three tiny babies, 2 boys and a girl, were born after Bhateri had IVF treatment at the controversial National Fertility Centre in northern India. It is here that the world’s oldest mother, 70-year-old Rajo Devi Lohan, was also treated.

As expected the couple is ecstatic about their new trio. The new dad told the media,

“Bhateri has fulfilled my dream of having a child and giving my family an heir.

She was my first wife and after she failed to conceive a child, I married twice but again. I did not have any child from my other wives also.

“I am very happy and I will provide all the best facilities to my children in the coming years.”

Dr Anurag Bishnoi, who supervised the whole process, said

“She has become the oldest mother in the world to give birth to triplets so far. She conceived only in our third attempt through IVF technique. For the first two attempts, only two embryos were transferred in each cycle. But in the third cycle. But in the third attempt three embryos were transferred, resulting in the birth of three children by caesarean.”

Sadly, the babies, who were born on May 29, arrived weighing just 2lb 6oz, 2lb 4oz and 1lb 7oz and will need an extensive amount of care to survive.

Not too mention loads of money to keep them fed and clothed.

Having kids is not about pride, it’s about nourishment and enrichment. It’s about enjoying life with them and then watching them do the same with their children.
