The Earl and Countess of Wessex Have a Boy!

Congratulations to The Earl and Countess of Wessex or Prince Edward and Sophie as we know them, on the early arrival of their second child.

We just reported this morning that Sophie was due to have a scheduled c-section for this Friday, but I guess the baby had other plans.

Their much longed-for son was delivered by elective Caesarean section at Frimley Park in Surrey at 4:20pm weighing a healthy 6lb 2oz.

He has not been named yet, will be known as Viscount Severn. At his parents’ request he will not be given the HRH title which would normally be conferred on the grandchildren of a reigning sovereign.

Both Edward, 43, and 42-year-old Sophie, who have a daughter, Lady Louise, four, are fiercely protective of their children’s privacy and, while proud of their heritage, are determined they grow up out of the royal spotlight.

The new baby will be 8th in line to the thrown, moving ahead of Lady Louise who moves down to ninth place, subsequently shifting the Princess Royal to tenth.

Ugandan Mom Delivers Quintuplets

Dorothy Namunana, 27, of Namasiga in Busedde has delivered a rare set of quintuplets.

The four baby girls and a boy , who weighed between 2 and 3 lbs, arrived on Saturday morning at the Jinja Hospital in Uganda. Dr. Andrew Kintu said Dorothy had a normal delivery.

She delivered her first child at 6:45am and it weighed 1.5kg. The second child came an hour later weighing 1.1kg, while the third one weighed 1.2kg. The fourth baby weighed 1.5kg and the last baby was at 1kg.

“The babies and their mother are in good health, although the young ones are very hungry and we are devising ways of feeding them. The mother cannot readily breast feed them,” Kintu said.

The new mom knew that she was carrying more that one baby, but had no idea there were quintuplets in there. She was quoted as saying:

“Am so shocked because I knew I was carrying a pregnancy of triplets and not quintuplets. I am grateful for what God has provided but we are very poor to raise all of them.”Dorothy’s husband, Swalique Mudodo first refused to go to the hospital, but was later convinced by his brother. “I was happy on learning that my wife had given birth, but the shocking part of it was that I now have 12 children,” Mudodo said.

Mudodo’s first two wives had delivered seven children. Mudodo said his family had a history of twins. He added that he once had twins but they died in their infancy.

This is the family that needs help. The family that doesn’t have the means to provide for all of the babies that have been sent. They are not registered at 3 different department stores for ‘gear’ their kids will only use a few times. They are just looking for bills to be paid and their children to be able to grow up healthy.

The Daily Mail is reporting that Sophie, The Countess of Wessex, is scheduled to deliver her second baby on Friday.

Sophie, 42, had been due to give birth on Christmas Day but will now have her baby delivered by caesarean section.

She will recuperate at her local hospital, Frimley Park in Surrey, until Christmas Eve, then spend the following week with Prince Edward and their four-year-old daughter, Louise, at their Bagshot Park home.

Sophie credits Frimley Park with saving her life after her first child, Louise, arrived at 36 weeks. She was forced to deliver via emergency caesarean after after “suffering dangerous blood loss.”

We look forward to seeing the first photos of the new baby!

Baby Nintendo Blanket

You know that your a true gamer when you swaddle your baby in a blanket knitted with Super Mario on it.

The family posted this picture and this caption:

Made by our incredibly creative friend Claire, for our newborn baby girl Leilani… For anyone who’s looked you’ll know that finding Nintendo pixellated pics that aren’t 8-bit is fairly fruitless so she started from scratch using the pics from Mario Kart DS
