New parents Edward and Sophie show off “the best Christmas present ever” – their newborn son.
The little boy made his first public appearance outside the hospital where he made a surprise appearance on Monday.
No name has been settled on yet, but the couple is said to be “narrowing down a few favourites”. Bets are on – 8-1 for Archie, followed by Charlie.
The couple’s spokesman said: “They are very much looking forward to taking the baby home in time for Christmas.
“He is the best Christmas present ever. Sophie is very, very, very happy – she has a big smile on her face and is very bubbly. Edward hasn’t stopped grinning since his son was born.”
The Queen has yet to meet the baby.
A senior courtier said: “She is thrilled – she is going around telling people the news. She cannot wait to meet him.”

Isabella Damon, 18-month-old daughter of Matt Damon and wife Luciana Barroso, showed her adorable pout at LAX airport yesterday.
Earlier this week, People.com reported that Matt was seen helping daughter Isabella pet the animals at the Molly’s Mutts & Meows and Best Friends Animal Society adoption booth at a West Hollywood park. The family didn’t adopt an animal, but Isabella appeared to enjoy playing with the dogs, a park goer tells us.

With the increase in lead hazard recalls this year, many parents are turning to home test kits to determine whether or not their children’s toys are safe.
At the end of October the CPSC released a statement that:
“Many of the tests performed using the kits did not detect lead when it was there (false negatives); some indicated lead was present when it was not (false positives). Of 104 total test results, more than half (56) were false negatives, and two were false positives. None of the kits consistently detected lead in products if the lead was covered with a non-leaded coating. Based on the study consumers should not use lead test kits to evaluate consumer products for potential lead hazards.”
Yesterday, Health Canada issued a warning claiming the same thing.
Health Canada’s product safety laboratory evaluated a number of the kits, which typically are swab-based systems that tests for lead using a chemical that reacts with lead, changing colour if lead is present.
The home tests have been available for some time from specialty shops, but have more recently been available on the Internet and in hardware and general merchandise stores, where they sell for between about $8 and $19.
Tests done by Health Canada showed results may be affected by pigment in the product being tested.
Unfortunately, neither association released the names of the tests they believed to be inaccurate. I guess it is safe to say that purchasing any of these tests would not be a good idea.

Hanging cradles are gaining in popularity because their movements are soft and soothing. Parents also like that they rock the baby to sleep in a continuous, steady manner.
Knoppa is a hanging cradle that is attached to the ceiling. It is easy to adjust the level at which the cradle hangs. One can keep the infant-child close without it sleeping in ones bed. This cradle is nicely decorated with bold flowers on the side. It is also available in black

Last week we listed Canada’s most popular names for 2007. The Daily Mail has posted the UK’s most popular names for 07 (pictured right) and BBC has posted Scotland’s most popular names for 07 (pictured below).
It is interesting to see that names that are very popular in one country don’t even make the list in another.
Sophie(or Sophia) appears to be popular in all countries. It tops Canada’s list and Scotlands list, and gets to number 6 in the UK.
In the UK, their multicultural community shows it’s strength by vaulting Mohammed into the second spot. It also appears a few times on the list with 7 different spellings.

The Spice Girls brought their children on stage last night during their hit song Mama.
Victoria Beckham outfitted her sons Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz in black t-shirts with POSH emblazoned across the front for their time on stage.
The only baby missing from the reunion was Geri’s baby Bluebell.
The good part is that all six children were equipped with either earplugs or infant sized headphones to protect their young ears from the noise levels on stage.
