Maggie Gyllenhaal’s new campaign for Agent Provocateur has been released.

The private actress, who has an 11-month-old daughter, Ramona, with her actor fiancé Peter Sarsgaard releases her inner goddess in the 20’s inspired Glam theme ads for the upscale lingerie company.

According to Serena Rees, co-founder of Agent Provocateur, the striking brunette was chosen for the campaign – which has previously starred supermodel Kate Moss and burlesque artist Dita Von Teese – because, “she’s not an obvious sex symbol”.

Keep Your Baby Snug In Their Car Seat

When we brought our son home, he only weighed 6lbs. He seemed to disappear in the car seat when we put him in and I always felt like he should be more cradled.

At that time the only thing available was the head support. JJ Cole has a Body Support insert that you can pop into your car seat to give your baby that extra bit of support and comfort.

This reversible support has plush polyester chamois on one side and a soft polyester/lycra blend on the other, providing comfort to baby in any season. The head support is adjustable and detachable, which accommodates baby’s growth.

Available in 2 colours/patterns for $24.95.

Nursing Moms That Smoke Harm Babies Sleep

A new study that was published yesterday found that babies whose mothers smoke cigarettes before breast feeding sleep less and not as well.

A test involving 15 nursing mothers found smoking “altered their infants’ sleep/wake patterning. Infants spent significantly less time in active and quiet sleep and woke up from their naps sooner,” the study said.

Julie Mennella and other researchers at the Monell Chemical Senses Center in Philadelphia said nicotine passed to the infants through breast milk was the culprit.

In the study published in the September issue of Pediatrics, the journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the women and their babies were monitored on days when they smoked and on days when they did not.

On smoking days, the women were allowed 20 minutes to smoke in another room just before breast-feeding. Some had just one cigarette while others had two or three.

The researchers said about 250 million women worldwide smoke tobacco.

I think it’s safe to say that smoking before, after and during your pregnancy will disrupt your baby’s growth and development. This was a fairly small study, but the results could prompt researchers to look further into this issue. SOURCE

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced today a voluntary recall of the Fisher Price Big Big World 6-in-1 Bongo Band toys and Geo Trax Locomotive due to a violation of lead paint standards. They are recommending that consumers should stop using the product immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Surface paints on the toys contain excessive levels of lead, which violates the federal law prohibiting lead paint on children’s toys.

The other bongo is yellow and green plastic drum base with an orange drum surface with “It’s a Big, Big World” printed on it. The toys were sold with animal shaped accessories including a monkey, bird, tambourine and drum stick. The toys have product number K9343 inside the orange drum. A date code between 139-7SH and 232-7SH is printed on the drum’s orange ring surface. Bongo Band toys included in this recall must have both the product number and date code.

The Geo Trax Freightway Transport and Geo Trax Special Track Pack locomotive toys are red with yellow paint on the ladder and horn details. The recalled models were manufactured between July 31, 2006 and August 20, 2007 and have a date code between 212-6CK through 325-6CK or 001-7CK through 232-7CK marked on the bottom of the product. They were sold at retail stores nationwide from July 2007 through August 2007 for about $20 and are manufactured in China.
