Woman in Coma Gives Birth To Baby Girl

Dana Conley, 38, carried the child for nearly an entire term while unconscious. Doctors delivered the 5-pound 3-ounce baby Thursday via Caesarean section, according to a prepared statement from Williamson County District Attorney John Bradley.

Conley was attacked on Feb. 9 by Julius Conley, a former Travis County corrections officer, at their Round Rock home.

The two were going through a divorce at the time of the attack and had a tumultuous and abusive marriage.

Dana Conley and a friend, Quincy Johnson, were moving her belongings out of the house on Feb. 9 when Julius Conley arrived unexpectedly and attacked both of them with a dumbbell, hitting them repeatedly in the head, investigators said.

Johnson later died of his injuries.

Julius Conley pleaded guilty to murder and aggravated assault in July and was given two life sentences.

Dana Conley’s parents, who live in California, took temporary custody of the baby, according to the district attorney’s statement.

Both of Madeline McCanns Parents Have Been Named As Suspects

In a very sad turn of events yesterday, both Madeline McCanns parents have been named as suspects in her disappearance from a Portugal Villa in May.

The police decision to name the parents as suspects brought a dramatic twist in the four-month-old case. Their ordeal has drawn attention around the world, partly because of an international campaign they have run to find their daughter.

Until Friday, suspicion had focused on a British man who lived near the hotel from which Madeleine disappeared and who was the only formal suspect. But police said new forensic tests done on evidence gathered months after the girl vanished found traces of blood in the couple’s car, according to Justine McGuinness, a spokeswoman for the family.

The new evidence — including the traces of blood missed in earlier forensic tests — was uncovered by sniffer dogs brought from Britain.

The McCanns have strenuously professed their innocence.

Kate McCann underwent two straight days of interrogation at a police station in southern Portugal on Thursday and Friday. Her husband was questioned separately afterward.

The girl’s aunt said that during the questioning of Kate McCann police suggested Madeleine might have been killed accidentally and offered the mother a plea deal if she confessed.

“They tried to get her to confess to having accidentally killed Madeleine by offering her a deal through her lawyer — ‘If you say you killed Madeleine by accident and then hid her and disposed of the body, then we can guarantee you a two-year jail sentence or even less,”‘ Gerry McCann’s sister, Philomena, told ITV news on Friday.

A police spokesman, Olegario Sousa, confirmed to The Associated Press that police had named a new suspect, but would not say it was Mrs. McCann. He cited privacy laws in declining to comment further. He could not be reached for comment Saturday on the McCanns’ apparent desire to leave Portugal.

The McCanns said they were dining with friends in a hotel restaurant when Madeleine vanished. Their daughter was in their hotel room with her twin 2-year-old siblings, and the parents said they returned frequently to check on them.

Since then, the McCanns have toured Europe with photos of Madeleine and the child’s stuffed animals and clothing, even meeting with Pope Benedict XVI at the Vatican. Celebrities including J.K. Rowling and David Beckham made public appeals that helped the family raise more than 1 million pounds (euro1.5 million; US$2 million).

The only formal suspect until now has been Robert Murat, who lives with his mother near the hotel from which the girl disappeared. He has always maintained his innocence. Sousa said Murat’s status as a suspect had not changed.

Foxy Brown To Serve Full Year In Jail While Pregnant

It was announced last month that rapper Foxy Brown was pregnant and engaged. She was also awaiting sentencing after she was found guilty of violating her probation.

In August, Brown (real name: Inga Marchand), 27, was remanded to state custody and ordered to jail for violating her probation after two brushes with the law. And now Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Melissa Jackson has sentenced the rapper to a full year in jail, ignoring her pleas for mercy.

I cannot imagine spending my whole pregnancy behind bars. The Manhattan judge must have wanted to set an example, with the current state of celebrity jail terms. Hopefully they will reduce her sentence before the baby is born.

Same Sex Couple Adds Quadruplets To A Family Of 7 Kids

You always hear that a family just wanted 1 more child when they do fertility and end up coming away with 4, 5 or 6.

This family already has 7 kids (2 natural and 5 adopted) so one would wonder why they would need more?

The new babies — two boys and two girls — arrived over the weekend with the help of artificial insemination and fertility drugs. New mom Dana and her partner, Allison, already have two biological children and five adopted special needs children. They were hoping for just one more, but got much more.

“I had to use my fingers. I said, ‘Okay, this is how many I have right now, and I’m adding four more,” said Dana.

“We have lots of love and lots of room, so the more the merrier,” said Allison.

The couple gets financial help from the state.

The four new babies will mean a lot of work, but both are looking forward to their really big family.
