Britney Spears Ordered To Attend Parenting Classes

Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon has ordered Britney Spears to attend a course called “Parenting Without Conflict”, to meet with a “parenting coach” at least twice a week for a total of eight hours and undergo twice-weekly random drug and alcohol testing.

Britney Spears is being described as a “habitual, frequent and continuous” user of alcohol and controlled substances. She and ex-husband Kevin Federline were also ordered to not consume alcohol or non-prescription controlled substances at least 12 hours prior to being with their children. (duh!)

The star must also attend a joint co-parenting counseling session with Kevin, both sides must decide on selection of a therapist by week’s end.

The commissioner also ruled that both sides are not allowed to use corporal punishment(spanking) on the kids, and must refrain from making “derogatory remarks” about each other and their families.

The ruling was handed down in Spears’s increasingly bitter custody dispute with Federline over their sons Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1. On Monday, a former bodyguard of the singer showed in court to testify about Spears’s drug use, but the court chose to not to hear his testimony.

Still, the judge said, that “based on the evidence presented, the court finds that there is a habitual, frequent and continuous use of controlled substances and alcohol by (Spears).” He didn’t say what that evidence was.

Despite the extensive orders, Spears and Federline’s current custody arrangement of 50-50 has not changed, the documents and attorneys for both sides confirm.

Federline, however, is seeking primary physical custody of the two children.

I like these recommendations. I wish that everyone had access to a good parenting coach. Even the best parents could learn a few things from someone who is not directly related to your family.

Britney hasn’t had anyone around her that could show her how to be a good mom for a while. She needs to start taking her boys to a Gymboree class or a playgroup so that they can play with other kids and learn to interact.

Soldani Sextuplets’ Arrivals Are Bittersweet

I have covered many multiple births over the last year and this one is definitely one of the saddest.

In just 90 seconds, Gracie and Brian Soldani lived a lifetime of joy and grief as their sextuplets were delivered at a San Jose hospital.

First Bruno, then Santino, then Joely. Lucia, Bailey and Briana came next.

Three lived. Three did not.

Doctors said something happened between Sunday, Sept. 9 and Wednesday, Sept. 12. They said Sunday’s tests showed all of the babies were alive, but three were born still-born three days later.

Doctors said they had to perform an emergency C-Section because Gracie was going into kidney failure.

The births were attended by 40 doctors, nurses and technicians at Good Samaritan Hospital on Wednesday at 3:31 p.m. All of the babies weighed more than 2 1/2 pounds.

Joely, Bailey and Briana were stillborn. Bruno, Santino and Lucia were whisked to the hospital’s neonatal intensive-care unit. On Monday, they were doing as well as can be expected for infants born 11 weeks early, said hospital spokeswoman Leslie Kelsay.

Soldani said one of the babies is breathing on his own, but the other two babies still need breathing assistance.

When the San Jose couple learned Gracie was carrying the sextuplets – still extremely rare even in an age of fertility drugs – they thought about “reducing” the number of babies. It was something their doctors encouraged them strongly to consider to increase the chances of a normal life for the remaining babies.

But, 28-year-old Gracie wrote in her blog, “We just feel in our hearts that after seeing the ultrasound with all the beating hearts as strong as a Vegas strip that we couldn’t go through with it.”

Hospital officials say Santino can now breathe on his own, but that Bruno and Lucia remain on ventilators, a common occurrence for preemies. The three could be home by late November.

The Soldanis declined to be interviewed.

In an entry dated Friday, they wrote, “We love you Bailey Layne, Briana Grace and Joely Clover, for always and always. . . . Please know that we will be with you three always as you will be with us in our hearts and in our dreams. Goodnight our sweethearts.”

Carrying six babies was an enormous challenge for Gracie: Imagine multiplying the morning sickness, swollen ankles and tiredness of a single pregnancy by six.

Gracie’s doctors urged her to eat 5,000 calories a day. In one day, Gracie wrote, she ate “half a package of bacon, three large slices of French bread, two 7-Ups, two glasses of chocolate milk, 36 ounces of water, cereal, nilaga (Filipino soup), lasagna and French bread, still not even close to 5,000 (calories). Cheesecake and cheesteak are next on my list.”

At about 23 weeks, Gracie was hospitalized to prevent her from going into labor too early.

I was completely surprised to read that 3 of the babies didn’t make it after being in utero for 29 weeks. This family should feel blessed to have 3 healthy babies. Our thoughts are with them.

Mary-Louise Parker Adopts Baby From Africa

Weeds star Mary-Louise Parker has adopted a baby girl from Africa.

Mary Louise was spotted with her new daughter over the weekend as they traveled to the Emmy’s.

No further information about the adoption was given.

Parker, 43, also has a 3-year-old son, Will, with actor Billy Crudup, 39. The couple split before Will was born, but Parker told PEOPLE last year she never had any doubts about being a single mom. “There are a lot of things I just would not attempt, but taking care of someone – I know how to do,” she said. “I know how to do that and I enjoy doing that.”

Constance Zimmer Expecting a Girl

Entourage star Constance Zimmer will be soon shopping for pink OK! Magazine is reporting. The actress, who is expecting her first child with boyfriend Russ Lamoureaux, revealed at the HBO Emmy after party that it’s a girl. No name has been chosen, the couple would like to see they baby before they settle on the right one.

Snug in a tailored vintage Karen Zambos couture gown, the Entourage and Boston Legal actress, who says the pregnancy has been “great,” revealed the happy news was definitely an unexpected surprise. Constance didn’t even know she was a mom-to-be herself until the tail end of her first trimester.“I found out from the doctor, of course,” she says. “Until I was two and a half months pregnant I didn’t know I was pregnant. So when I found out I was kind of like, ‘I’m sorry? What? You might want to go back and check!’ Of course, it’s a very good surprise. I mean, how could it not be? It’s pretty amazing.”

While she “can’t complain” about the lack of cravings, one thing Constance does have a gripe about is the reported pregnancy side effect of healthier hair. “They always say, ‘Oh my god! Your hair gets so thick and beautiful when you get pregnant.’ I didn’t get that — I’ve still got to put the piece in!”

Our Stockpile of Toys Under The Couch

My son rolled his ball under the couch yesterday morning by mistake and beckoned me to come get it.

I surveyed how far it had gone under and decided to use the broom to help.

After moving the couch out and swiping underneath it with the broom, I was shocked to see all of the toys that were living underneath our couch.

Stuff I hadn’t seen in AGES started rolling out from all over. There was a red and orange ball (neither the ball that I was sent to find) a CD, plastic letters, shapes from the shape sorter and a spoon.

Once my son saw the toys he was excited and started to laugh and clap like he had just been to the toy store.

I had no idea that he had been stock piling all of his favorites under the couch.

Note to self: when the little monkey is bored – pull out the couch so he can play with all of the stuff he has forgotten about!
