Update: Photos Of The Byler Sextuplets

I was able to post 2 not so great photos the other night of the Florida’s first set of sextuplets and thought that that would be it because of the exclusivity contract the couple signed with Inside Edition.

I was wrong – so here are some great first shots of the babies along with a photo of Zoe, the big sister, holding one of her new little brothers.

From what I can see, a few of the babies are breathing independently, which is good and at least one is on CPAP (an non-invasive method of keeping the lungs open while pushing air into them)

Maxwell Alston Sutter in US Magazine

Here he is! Maxwell Sutter was born on July 27th, four weeks early, weighing 5 pounds, 3 ounces.

He is introduced to the world in an elaborate photo spread put together by US Magazine.

After struggling to conceive for two years, the couple opened up to the magazine about the challenges they faced in getting pregnant.

“EPT sent me about 100 pregnancy tests, and I discovered I was pregnant with the very last one.”

In her nineth month doctors found protein in her urine and tested the reality star for preeclampsia, a potentially fatal hypertensive disorder that typically occurs toward the end of a pregnancy.

“I was terribly nauseous and in a lot of pain,” she says.

Trista was diagnosed with HELLP syndrome (a complication of preeclampsia). “The risks are seizures and coma, so they kept me overnight for observation,” Trista explains. “I can’t remember much of the next day. My liver was failing. The only cure for HELLP syndrome is to have the baby, so they induced me.”

After six hours Trista’s levels kept getting worse. “I knew something was wrong when the doctor looked worried.” Ryan tells Us, “They said there was a chance her liver could rupture. They were trying to get us to make a comfortable decision to go with a C-section. Eventually we said if Trista’s health is deteriorating and we’re jeopardizing the baby’s health, then do what you have to do.”

Record Breaking Twins Born In Alabama

A set twins were born naturally Tuesday, just seven minutes apart, tipping the scales at a combined seventeen pounds and one ounce.

Cierra and Cheyann Ethridge were born Tuesday just seven minutes apart. Cierra is the oldest weighing in at 8 pounds, 6 ounces. Then came Cheyann at 8 pounds, 11 ounces.”The smaller one came out first and they thought she’s such a big baby, she must be the big one. Then, the big one got here and everybody was like oh, she’s so huge,” Etheridge said. “I think everybody was just shocked.”

The Etheridge babies are the biggest twins ever born at Providence Hospital. According to hospital records, the next biggest babies were born more than twenty years ago.

“As far back as 1985 we found a pair that weighed a little more than 8 pounds (each), but not quite the weight of Cierra and Cheyann,” said Cindy McMillan, a nurse who has helped deliver babies for 27 years.

The babies were born just five days shy of full term, which nurses say is very uncommon for twins, and the mother delivered the babies without a c-section.

The family expects to go home Thursday.

I have no idea how this mom didn’t know her babies were so big. Just to give you an idea…these two babies weighed almost as much as the Masche sextuplets.SOURCE

Ella Sophia Gordon

Jeff Gordon has posted some new photos of his daughter Ella Sophia on his personal site.

He and his wife Ingrid welcomed Ella into the world on June 20th.

Jeff was quoted as saying:

“To me, it’s perfect timing in my life to be a father, because I want to be involved, I want to be there,” Gordon has told Rochester, N.Y.’s Democrat and Chronicle. “I’m excited about all the aspects of it and the challenges that come along with it.”

A Creative Option For Moms Who Are Potty Training A Boy

I apologize to any moms who are potty training their girls, I have nothing for you…today.

I came across this product while at the All Baby and Children’s Trade show this weekend in Vegas.

As I was walking by, I realized what it was and had to stop and hear the spiel.

We are this close to taking our first stab at potty training so any gear that might make our quest easier will definitely be under review.

The “Peter Potty” is essentially a urinal that stands on it’s own in your bathroom.

The company reps made some good points by noting that boys don’t sit down to pee. It is more natural for them to stand up, so why shouldn’t they learn that way?

The unit has a real water flush with no plumbing required and is wall mountable or freestanding.

I would be interested to hear if this has worked for any of our moms.

Countess Sophie Shows Off Her Growing Belly

Sophie Wessex looked great yesterday as she showed off her baby bump for the first time.

Dressed in a low-cut white summer dress and a long-line dark jacket, the Countess, 42, attended the opening of St John Ambulance new Headquarters in Leatherhead, Surrey.

Sophie and Prince Edward, who have spoken openly about their hope for a second child, had all but given up after undergoing unsuccessful fertility treatment.

The Countess lost her first baby and almost died in 2001 when she suffered an ectopic pregnancy – where the foetus grows outside the womb – and had to be airlifted to hospital.

She spoke afterwards of her great sadness and said she would consider undergoing IVF treatment to conceive.

Two years later, Lady Louise was born prematurely, weighing just 4lb 9oz, after the countess was taken to hospital suffering from agonising stomach pains.

The baby was delivered by emergency Caesarean section and taken to a neo-natal unit at another hospital.

Sophie, who was dangerously ill, was separated from her daughter for six days. Lady Louise was allowed home two weeks later when she reached the crucial weight of 5lb.

From the looks of things this pregnancy seems to be going well. Every pregnancy is different so let’s hope this goes better than the last one. SOURCE
