Madonna Arrives In NYC With David Banda

Madonna arrived in NYC with adopted son David Banda, 2.
Rumour has it that Madge was looking to adopt a second child from Malawi, where David was born.

The uncle of that child has put the breaks on the move saying that he doesn’t want ‘ his daughter being adopted by a white person; and in particular by a woman whose idea of career advancement not so long ago was to let her bra straps down at the first sight of a camera lens’. (ouch!)

Alexis Stewart Talks To Oprah About Her Fertility Challenges

Alexis Stewart spoke with Oprah yesterday about her struggle to have a baby.

The radio host and daughter of Martha Stewart has spent the last year seeing fertility doctors and trying cutting-edge procedures to get pregnant.

Alexis, now 42, put off trying to have a baby at 36 because she was ‘it wasn’t a good time” and then she forgot about it.

Two years later it became a priority again, but now she is worried that “it is almost too late”.

“[We] get distracted because now we have jobs, and now we have other things to do. Medicine seems miraculous—you can do anything you want,” she says. “Movie stars have babies late. It seems all possible, but you don’t hear the stories of the people who can’t have a baby.”Now that Alexis is in her 40s, she says getting pregnant is difficult because her eggs are “dry and crusty.” To increase the number of eggs her body produces, Alexis says she takes an arsenal of drugs each month.

Her medical routine begins every month on the day after she gets her period. “I go to the doctor and test my blood,” she says. “They do an ultrasound. They look at my ovaries to make sure there are no cysts. They check the lining of my uterus, and then that night, I begin my medication.”

Every evening, Alexis says she gives herself two injections of fertility drugs. “Then, on about the 11th day, the doctor will say, ‘You’re ready. In two days we’re going to harvest your eggs,'” she says.

Doctors have tried the ICSI—intracytoplasmic sperm injection—method with some of Alexis’s viable eggs and sperm she got from a sperm bank. “ICSI is where they take the egg and they poke a hole in it,” she says. “They put the sperm in—they don’t just wait for it to fertilize, because your egg is hard and old and crusty. It doesn’t want to make a baby.”

Alexis says she’s had three egg implantations, but none of them have stuck. “Last month, I had no eggs that were viable, so I’m sort of back to square one at the moment,” she says.

Fertility treatments can be time-consuming and emotionally draining. To keep things in perspective, Alexis says she tries to think of them as part of a job. “If I get too emotional about it, I’ll be unhappy all the time or freaked out all the time,” she says. “So I look at it as sort of a chore. … Not about having a baby, but what I have to go through to get there.”

Martha has been helping with the cost of the procedures and giving moral support as well.

When Oprah asked if she would like a grandchild. Alexis responded “Desperately.”

She plans to continue with the treatments until doctors say that there is nothing more they can do.

No back up plan is in place.

“When I have to think about my other options, then I will do that. But at the moment, I can only think about this option.”

Dove Does It Again..Another Great Commercial

Last year Dove made quite a stir with their evolution commercial. They have released the follow up, which is aimed more at kids and parents. It makes you realize that there are a lot of companies out there marketing their ‘look good fast’ products to women.

After the birth of my son, I learned to accept my healthy thighs, not toned arms and less than perky breasts.

Perfect takes too much time…

Besides, guys don’t notice half the stuff us women are paranoid about.

Babies Switched At Birth To Be Switched Back Gradually

My heart broke last Wednesday night as I watched 2 moms on Private Practice have to switch babies after a father exchanged them and their records not long after birth.

I thought about it for days after wondering if it really ever happens anymore and what I would do If my son wasn’t my baby.

I guess it does because a pair of moms in the Czech Republic have a few sad months ahead of them after finding out that the baby that each has been nurturing for the last 10 months is not their biological child.

Last December, Jaroslava Trojanova and Jaroslava Cermakova each gave birth to a baby girl at Trebic hospital 18 minutes apart.

Everything was fine until the babies were weighed the second day and one had gained 1.65 lbs and the other had lost 1.65 lbs. Staff on duty at the time reassured them that the babies’ weights on the day they had been born had been recorded wrongly.

Libor, Jaroslava Trojanova’s husband became suspicious after his friends made comments about the baby being blonde-haired, blue-eyed even though he and wife were both dark-haired and brown-eyed.

He secretly decided to have a DNA test done over the Internet which revealed that he was not Nikola’s father. When Jaroslava insisted he must be the father she too had a DNA test done – which revealed that the child was not theirs.

Two weeks after receiving the DNA tests the couple discovered that their real daughter Veronika was living with Jaroslava Cermakova and her husband Jan in a village 20 miles away.

As expected, both families were devastated.

“I just cried for two hours solid and Jaroslava was inconsolable; it was just impossible to believe that this could happen,” Libor, said.

“We have raised Nikola for the past 10 months. She’s a beautiful little girl who’s always smiling and it’s impossible to imagine her now living apart from us.

“We have missed so many milestones in Veronika’s life; her first teeth and her first steps. Now we are determined not to miss her first birthday and her first Christmas,” said Libor.

“The whole situation is just awful. What can I say? You love your daughter, but, at the end of the day, she is not yours. Nikola is my little angel and so far I don’t have any feelings for Veronika – I wish I could live with both of them,” said Jaroslava, 25, who is still breastfeeding her.

Libor said the couples now each planned to sue the hospital involved for the equivalent of £250,000.

Trebic Hospital near Brno on the Czech-Austrian border has so far declined to comment publicly while an investigation was ongoing. Hospital director Petr Mayer this week delivered a written apology to the couples.

Libor added: “The Cermakova family are such nice people thankfully and we will support each other and get through this together. I am determined to have my real daughter back but it is such a difficult complicated process.

“We have to take it slowly and carefully. Jaroslava is taking it very badly. At the meeting with the Cermakova family she ran away and locked herself in the toilet for a long time, she couldn’t face it. Her nerves are bad.”

I cannot even start to imagine what these families are going through. They have planned to spend more time together to get acquainted to the proper child. They will hopefully switch Nikola and Veronika back to their proper families just before their first birthdays which will be on December 9th.

I am not sure that I would be able to give back a baby that I have loved as my own for a full year. The strength that these women have is commendable. We wish them the best. I am sure we will have an update in a month or two. SOURCE
