UPDATE: Minnesota Quintuplets Doing Well

The five babies born to Jessie and Rory Mrozek in Minnesota last week are said to be doing okay.

Four of the babies were taken off the ventilators over the weekend, with little Lainey waiting until Monday night. She was put back on Tuesday, which is not uncommon for babies born this early. (28 weeks gestation)

Three are said to be breathing by CPAP(an non-invasive method of keeping the lungs open while pushing air into them), Lainey is on a ventilator and Breah Lyn is breathing on her own.

Jessie, the babies mom, has been released from the hospital but plans to stay in the area to be close to the quints. They are not expected to go home for a few months yet.

The Sartell, Minn. community, where the family lives, has rallied around the Mrozeks. Dozens of parishioners at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church are praying as a group for the babies.

“They are going to be praying for these five little quints, so they develop well and healthy,” St. Francis pastoral minister Sister Cordy Korkowski.

On Tuesday, Rory Mrozek set up the Mrozek Quintuplet Trust on Tuesday at Wells Fargo banks to handle money donated for the quints. The family knows it will need a bigger vehicle, cribs and lots of supplies, he said.

The family will need more than money.

Rory’s sister, Netta Hodgkins, has started three diaper drives in the Twin Cities. She’s already received eight packages of diapers this week at her home in Shakopee. Her husband’s workplace and a friend’s running group have also started diaper drives for the family.

Constance Zimmer At LA’s Fashion Week

Constance Zimmer and Lisa Edelstein pose for photographers before the Petro Zillia Spring 2008 fashion show at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Los Angeles.

The Entourage star looks to me like she is going to have a boy.

The baby is sitting low, which normally means a boy, but I guess we’ll see next month.

I have been 5/6 this summer on gender predictions…

Baby Abandoned TWICE in One Day

A mom that was reportedly on drugs, gave her baby to a man who gave her a ride.

Once he arrived home, he and his wife wrapped the baby in a blanket, attached a note, drove to a Portage hospital and left the baby on an emergency room counter.

The 5-month-old girl, who was dirty and hungry but otherwise in good heath, was placed in foster care after Sunday’s events, police said.

“The main thing is the baby is safe,” said LaPorte Police Chief of Detectives Dennis Behenna.

Police said Michael Williams was driving home from work in LaPorte early Sunday when he was stopped by a woman he knows holding her baby. She asked the man to give her a ride to Gary, and when they arrived the woman exited the car and asked Williams to take her baby.

A hospital worker found the baby and called child protective services, who in turn placed the baby in temporary foster care.

The child’s grandmother later reported her daughter and the child missing. The mother checked into a Gary hospital for treatment, police said, and later called police wanting her child back.

These horrible stories really stress me out. I could never bear to be without my son, let alone hand him off to some random person. SOURCE

‘The View’ Audience Cashes In

Today was Elizabeth Hasselbeck’s last day on The View before she heads to Arizona, where her husband will play for the Cardinals.

As a tribute to Elizabeth, the producers filled the audience with moms expecting their second baby.

After having Grace, Elisabeth discovered the stuff that makes a mom’s life so much easier, so before she leaves to have her baby, she showed the audience all the must-have items on her list for moms-to-be.

This is where it pay to be a View audience member… Every mom to be in the audience got every product that Elizabeth was showing, a years supply of Huggies AND a ‘celebrity bump’ bag, worth $1500, put together by jewels and pinstripes!!

What a great day for all of those moms!!

Elizabeth will also be writing a blog for dreft.com, the baby laundry company, while she on her maternity leave.
