Personalization With A Cute Twist

I love the uniqueness of these great personalized blankets. Anyone can script a child’s name across the bottom of a blanket, but the way this company does it is unique. Each letter in your child’s name can be embroidered on an animal or character. Too cute!!

The design shown below is perfect for your prince (shown) or princess. The princess version is a pink blanket with lavender crown and yellow and sage green gems OR a yellow blanket, Pink crown and lavender and sage green gems.

The frogs and turtles blanket gives you the choice of a light blue, light yellow and pale pink blanket with alternating sage green frogs and beige and sage green turtles. They start at $42 and go up to $106 with 7 personalized letters. www.silbodesigns.com

Research: The Effect of Cellphones On Your Pregnancy

Researchers are realizing that more studies need to be done on children and pregnant women in trying to figure out if cell phones or other wireless devices could damage their health.

A few studies have indicated a possible link between mobile telephone use and brain tumors, although far more show no connection.”Measuring the amount of RF energy received by juveniles, children, pregnant women, and fetuses from wireless devices and RF base station antennas could help define exposure ranges for various populations,” the National Research Council said in a statement.

“Although it is unknown whether children are more susceptible to RF exposure, they may be at increased risk because of their developing organ and tissue systems,” it added.

“Additionally, Specific Absorption Rates for children are likely to be higher than for adults, because exposure wavelength is closer to the whole-body resonance frequency for shorter individuals.”

The report also notes that children today will experience a longer period of RF field exposure from mobile phones than adults, because they will most likely start using them at an early age.

As these devices become more popular and new products are introduced to the market place, it is important that their side effects are researched thoroughly. SOURCE

Cruising and Pregnancy

If you are in your 7th month of your pregnancy and are thinking of going on a cruise as your last hurrah before the baby arrives, you may want to think again.

I was surprised to find out that each cruise line has their own guidelines for expecting moms, with most not accepting pregnant guests who are past 24 weeks gestation.

The official reason is that the lack of neo-natal care facilities onboard the ship would prevent them from being unable to care for a baby born at this gestation.

I have put together a list of popular cruise lines and their pregnancy requirements:

Princess, Carnival, Holland America, Norweigian, Silversea, Regent Seven Seas, all say that they will make every effort to accommodate you, providing you have not entered the 24th week of pregnancy when the cruise ends.

Royal Carribean, Celebrity are a bit more lax, but will not accept guests who have entered their third trimester of pregnancy (27th week) at the beginning or at any time during their cruise vacation. If you decide to fly and stay at a resort, most airlines usually let any woman with a normal pregnancy and no previous history of premature labor to travel up to and including her 36th week.
