RECALL: Toy Wooden Block and Train Sets Due to Violation of Lead Paint Standard

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with First Learning Company Ltd about 15,000 Mass Big Wooden Blocks and Jumbo Wooden Train Sets because Surface paint on some pieces of the toys contains excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard.

The Big Wooden Blocks contain 30 or 60 colorful block pieces in 11 geometric shapes. The Jumbo Wooden Train Sets contain 70 wooden pieces including trees, stop and railroad crossing signs, a red wooden engine and green train cars. The following style numbers and UPC numbers are printed on the packaging of the toys.

Parents are being asked to take the recalled toys away from children and return the toys to any Christmas Tree Shop to receive a refund.

Marc Quinns ‘Evolution’ Exhibition

The While Cube Gallery in London is currently hosting Marc Quinn’s ‘Evolution’ Exhibition.

The artist looks at pregnancy from the inside with nine large sculptures depicting the development of a fetus from 22 days to just before birth.

They have been carved in a pink marble whose mottling conveys the fine veins below the growing child’s skin.

The embryo works continue Quinn’s fascination with issues of genetics and DNA manipulation and have been developed from images in medical textbooks and scans of the 43-year-old artist’s own two children, aged six and two.

The show runs until 23 February.

Would You Use A Cloth Menstrual Pad?

Lately I have been researching different brands of cloth diapers. I think I have looked through about a million cloth diaper websites looking for a product that may suit my sons needs.

On many of these sites I have noticed that along with environmentally friendly products for baby, there are eco-friendly, cost effective options for moms.

The cloth menstrual pad seems to be gaining as much popularity as the cloth diaper. My question is would you wear a menstrual pad that you had to wash?

Cloth pads are not only useful for menstrual use, they can also be used for incontinence, to keep your underpants clean and dry between periods, during pregnancy, or even after sex. Cloth pads come in several sizes and absorbencies to suit the different uses and needs of the users.

Many women get turned off because they think cloth pads will be dirty, bulky, hard to wash and stain easily. The manufacturers way of avoiding the stain issue – creating a disposable out of coloured material! For women who still like to have a fresh looking pad, an organic ivory coloured on is also available.

Washing instructions: Like cloth diapers, it is recommended that you soak the cloth pads in water until you are able to do a load (1-2 days).

I have to say that the women who designed these cloth pads have thought of everything. Most are handmade, come in every style that disposables do and even include snaps, which are just like the ‘wings’ on other products.

With all that being said, I am not sure that after doing 3 loads of cloth diapers a week and endless loads of regular clothes, that I want to add cloth menstrual pads to the mix.

Michelle Williams and Matilda Arrive in Brooklyn

US Magazine has the first photo of Michelle Williams and Matilda, 2, arriving in Brooklyn this evening.

Michelle was in Sweden shooting her latest movie, Mammoth, when news of Heath’s death was reported yesterday.

The couple met while working on Brokeback Mountain in 2005 and split in September after three years together.

Matilda’s godmother, Williams’ former Dawson’s Creek costar Busy Philipps, was spotted at the house, as was Williams’ mother, earlier in the day.

From the smile on Matilda’s face, she is completely unaware of the what has happened.  It makes me very sad to think that this adorable little girl will never be able to see her daddy again.  I enjoyed seeing photos of the two of them together because you could almost see Heath glow when he was carrying her or pushing her in the stroller.
