They also expanded the product line to include children’s versions of wine, champagne, and cocktails. The beer, flavored like apple juice, even foams at the top when poured into a glass!

Doesn’t this all fall into the same category as Popeye cigarettes? Wrong to be pushing a bad habit on young impressionable minds even though they are just candies?

Unmarried Priest Quits Top Job After Becoming Pregnant

Rev Dr Emma Loveridge is making a few waves overseas for getting pregnant.

She is one of the Church of England’s most senior women clerics and she has stepped down from her post as Archbishop of York after only 13 months on the job.

The 42-year-old cited “personal and family reasons” for leaving the staff of Dr John Sentamu, who ranks second in the Church’s hierarchy.

He is regarded as conservative in matters of sexual morality

She is also understood to have resigned her licence to practise as a priest and to have effectively stepped down from the clergy.

The baby is believed to be Dr Loveridge’s first and her growing bump was obvious as she strolled near her home this week.

Her pregnancy comes as the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, has spoken out strongly in favour of marriage and married families in recent months.

Along with Dr Sentamu, he has been trying to deal with the worldwide Anglican split over sexual morality.

On one side, they face US Anglican leaders who embrace gay rights and whose ranks include a gay bishop. But in the developing world, prelates reject any concession over traditional Biblical morality.

Since Dr Loveridge left on March 31 after working her three-month notice, she has received support from a prominent and wealthy U.S. church.

I believe that anyone who has given up as much as this women has to carry her child is going to be great mom. She knows the importance of life and has already sacrificed more for her child than a lot of parents.

We wish her good luck and we hope the press lays off…the stress is bad for the baby!

Parents May Want To Think Twice About Letting Their Kids Eat Beach Sand

We have all let our kids eat sand at the beach before, in fact, I just did it last week thinking that it was cute that my son was learning what was okay to eat and what was not…

New evidence implicating beach sand as a reservoir for E. coli – the bacterium that is used as an indicator that water has been contaminated by fecal material – has been reported by scientists at the University of Minnesota.

In the report, published in ACS’ Environmental Science & Technology, a biweekly journal, Michael J. Sadowsky and colleagues cite several previous studies showing that E. coli and bacteria indicating fecal contamination can accumulate and grow in beach sand. “These results indicate that E. coli originating from several sources may survive and potentially replicate in sand and sediment, possibly increasing fecal counts found on beaches,” the report states. The researchers point out that while most E. coli strains are harmless, some strains do cause gastrointestinal diseases in human. Symptoms include vomiting and diarrhea, as well as more serious conditions.

The 2-year study tracked seasonal variations in E. coli in water, sand, and sediment at the Duluth Boat Club Beach in Duluth-Superior Harbor on Lake Superior. It concluded that beach sand and sediment serve as sinks and sources for E. coli from humans and waterfowl that can contribute to beach closures.

This makes sense to me because the other thing I thought was cute were the stray dogs on the beach. I am sure they are contributing to the issue as well…
