Usher and Fiance Tameka Foster Expecting A Baby

After denying that a baby was on the way last week, Usher and his fiance, Tameka Foster, have announced that they ARE, in fact, expecting this fall.

“We are extremely excited at this point in our lives planning our wedding and the joy that comes with expecting our first child together,” the couple said in a statement released to the Associated Press Wednesday. “We hope people will be happy for us and respect our privacy during this happy period in our lives.”

Their seven year friendship turned romantic over a year ago.

This will be a first baby for Usher and fourth child for Tameka.

Jenna Elfman

Jenna Elfman was seen out over the weekend looking fit and very pregnant. The baby looks like it is sitting low which makes me think she is having a boy…just a guess. We will see in a few weeks when the little monkey makes his appearance.

Until then, it appears that pregnancy hasn’t slowed her down. She is seen here charging through a pack of photographers probably shopping on trendy Robertson.

Giving Birth Is Expensive!!

I can see why more people are opting for ‘freebirths’ in the U.S. Who the heck can afford the cost?

At the turn of the 20th century, having a baby was dangerous, but not all that expensive: Women simply hired a midwife for a couple of dollars and prayed they wouldn’t die on the kitchen table.

Add another $8,800 to those two dollars and you get today’s average cost of giving birth, according to a study released Tuesday by the March of Dimes.

Nationally, a vaginal delivery cost $7,737, with caesarean sections averaging $10,958.

Researchers examined insurance claims in 2004 for more than 43,000 deliveries, including prenatal care, delivery and newborn health care for three months after birth. The women studied had traditional employer-provided health insurance rather than HMO insurance and were not covered by government programs such as Medi-Cal.

It’s important to study childbirth costs because pregnancy and childbirth account for nearly a quarter of all hospitalizations in the United States, the researchers say.

The researchers found that insurers covered most of the cost of childbirth, with the women paying an average of $463 out-of-pocket for vaginal deliveries and $523 for C-sections. Many consumers, however, report that their out-of-pocket costs are higher, depending on the care they receive and type of insurance they have.

The price is different throughout the U.S. with Northeast coming in as the most expensive, mostly because of the higher cost of living. Western states are the next most expensive; it’s cheapest to give birth in the South.

Regardless of where you live, maternity costs can spiral even further if a baby is born prematurely: In another study conducted using data from 2001, the researchers found that a year’s worth of health care for a premature baby averages $41,610, compared with $2,830 for a healthy, full-term infant.

Baby Girl Given 25 Names After Prize Fighting Boxers

A mother and father who are diehard fans of boxing have brought a baby girl into the world and named her after 25 legends of Boxing. Baby Autumn Brown has been in fact tagged with over 25 names from boxing legends to make up her middle name. All of the names are of legends from the past.

The girl’s mother Maria decided to give her baby daughter 25 middle names all from the greatest legends of boxing, because both her mother and father are obsessed with the sport of boxing. That and she has a sense
of humor.

The girl’s full name, which was registered in Perton, Wolverhampton reeling is: Autumn Sullivan Corbett Fitzsimmons Jeffries Hart Burns Johnson Willard Dempsey Tunney Schmeling Sharkey Carnera Baer Braddock Louis Charles Walcott Marciano Patterson Johansson Liston Clay Frazier Foreman Brown.

Maria, the 33 year old mother told the city’s Express and Star:
“The whole thing came about because both my mum and dad are obsessed with boxing and have a bit of a daft sense of humour.

She added:
“When I was young I couldn’t ever remember my name. It took me to the age of 10 to memorise it all.”

Maria hopes her daughter will have a sense of humor, stating: “I’m hoping Autumn has a good sense of humour with her name. It’s never done me any harm though.”

Once again…the intention is good but the exectution – not so good. Why do parents insist on giving their children such unusual names? Do they not know that the kids in the school yard may have a sense of humour, but not one that is beneficial to them?
