DNA Tests Show That Eddie Murphy IS The Father Of Melanie Brown’s Baby

Results of the DNA test taken by Murphy on June 11 were reportedly received by Brown on Thursday.

“He’s the baby’s father, it’s official. The baby is undoubtedly, 110 percent his,” a source told People. “There was no doubt in people’s minds anyways, least of all [Brown’s]. It wasn’t a surprise to her. She knew all along.”

The 32-year-old singer gave birth to Angel Iris Murphy Brown on April 3. On the birth certificate, Brown listed the child’s last name as Murphy.

Brown also has an 8-year-old daughter. Murphy has five children from his marriage to Nicole Mitchell Murphy and one from a previous relationship.

When asked about impending fatherhood in December, Murphy told a television reporter: “And I don’t know whose child that is until it comes out and has a blood test. You shouldn’t jump to conclusions, sir.”

A rep for Murphy declined to comment on this latest report.

This looks good on him!

I always thought is was scummy of him to say that he didn’t believe that the baby was his, knowing that they were together for a few months.

It just shows that some celebrities aren’t worthy of the praise they receive from the public.

Couple Try To Name Son ‘4real’

A New Zealand couple have been blocked by authorities in their bid to name their baby son ‘4real’.

Pat and Sheena Wheaton decided on the name after glimpsing him for the first time during a scan, reports Metro News.

But they have been told that ‘4real’ can’t go down on the birth certificate because numerals are not allowed.

Mrs Wheaton told TV One: “For most of us, when we try to figure out what our names mean, we have to look it up in a babies book and there’s no direct link between the meaning and the name.

“With this name, everyone knows what it means.”

But when the parents tried to file the name with New Zealand’s Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages, they were told names beginning with a number were against the rules.

The government office has opened negotiations with the parents about the name under a policy that says all unusual names must be given case-by-case consideration.

Registrar-General Brian Clarke said in a statement: “The name has not at this stage been rejected. We are currently in discussions with the parents to clarify the situation.”

New Zealand law requires all children to be registered within two months of birth and the baby will be registered as ‘Real’ if no compromise is reached.

I think that parents forget that their child will have to live the rest of their lives with this name. While it sounds good just after giving birth, 4real may not be the best name for a child on the playground or an adult who is a bank manager…

First-Born Sons Have Higher IQ, Researchers Say

Firstborn sons have higher IQs than their younger brothers, and their social status within the family may explain why, researchers reported on Thursday.

A study that used military draft records for more than 240,000 Norwegian men found that firstborns had an edge of 2.3 IQ points on their next oldest brothers, who in turn beat brothers born third by 1.1 points on average.

Men who had been raised as the eldest, whether they were born first, second, or third, had IQs to match their first-born peers. The same was true for those raised or born second, Petter Kristensen and colleagues at the University of Oslo report in the journals Science and Intelligence.

“This study provides evidence that the relation between birth order and IQ score is dependent on the social rank in the family and not birth order as such,” Mr. Kristensen’s team wrote in Science.

Their studies confirmed what many scientists had suspected for more than a century — that firstborns have an edge.

I believe that your first born does so well because you have more time to spend with them. After additional children arrive you have to split your time amongst everyone which reduces the quality time they all get.

Longer Maternity Leaves Boost Breast Feeding

Statistics Canada conducted a study that found that the proportion of eligible mothers who breastfed exclusively for at least six months — the duration recommended by the World Health Organization and Health Canada — increased to 28 per cent from 20 per cent.

However, Donna Churko, a public health nurse with the Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region, said the number of breastfeeding moms reaching that optimum target of six months is still too low.

The Statistics Canada study examined the impact the Jan. 1, 2001 extension in maternity leave from six months to a year had on time away from work, breastfeeding and the health of mothers and their babies.

More mothers stayed home longer and they breastfed their infants exclusively for the recommended six months or longer, according to the study. Breastfeeding was prolonged by an average of one month.

Churko, who works with the health region’s breastfeeding support centre, said the majority of new moms initiate breastfeeding but for whatever reason stop before the baby is six months old.

“Getting new moms to breastfeed for six months is our goal. But we are not there yet. We still have lots of work to do,” Churko said.

“We don’t have firm numbers to show specifically what our rates are but they are not as high as we would like to see them.”

There are a number of breastfeeding committees locally and provincially that are working to educate new moms on the benefits of breastfeeding and to encourage and support their efforts, she said.

“We know that many moms stop breastfeeding earlier than we would like, although a number do continue throughout the first year of their baby’s life. So we like to help the moms overcome any barriers and encourage them to continue breastfeeding once they have started,” Churko said.

The Statistics Canada study concluded that extending maternity leave entitlements had led to mothers breastfeeding longer, but did not appear to have influenced the decision to initiate breastfeeding.

“I think people are aware of the benefits of breastfeeding but sometimes they just need a little help and support,” she said.

“It is a learning process. For some people breastfeeding comes quite naturally and with others sometimes it just needs a little bit of work on mom’s part and the baby’s part to be successful.”

It was found in 2005 that most new mothers in Canada try to breastfeed their baby, but only one in six actually sticks to it for as long as doctors recommend.

Once you get the hang of it, breastfeeding is much easier than bottle feeding. There is no cost involved and it is always available for you whenever you need it…
