Jeff Gordon and wife Ingrid Vandebosch welcomed their first baby Ella into the world on June 20th.

“The baby came out, and we’re both crying – in shock – and then you hear her cry for the first time,” Gordon said Monday on ABC’s Live with Regis and Kelly.

It’s only been a few weeks, but Gordon, 35, a first-time father, says parenthood has already changed him. “It’s all I want to talk about now – just about babies, about kids,” he said, adding that he has “a whole new respect, not just for parents, but especially for moms.”

Kelly Ripa teased Gordon about whether his competitive instincts made it hard for him to be in the delivery room, where he could provide emotional support but little else.

“No competition when it comes to that,” he said, but added: “My emotions were just all over the place, because I was kind of helpless. She’s having the baby, and there’s nothing I can do except get the doctors. … I’m sure that was very helpful, though.”

Gordon and Vandebosch met in 2002 and began dating in 2005. They wed in November 2006 in Mexico and announced the pregnancy in December on Gordon’s Web site, saying, “Christmas came early for us.”

Shortly after Ella’s birth, Gordon added a new message to the site. “It’s been an absolutely incredible experience,” he wrote. “Ingrid came through amazingly and we’re both really happy and overjoyed. We can’t wait to get home and start our lives together as a family.”

Mom Blames Great Store Sale for Leaving Child in Hot Car

Is this story a joke???

A 63-year-old woman blamed a great sale for the reason she left her small child locked inside a sweltering car for an hour.

Eileen Amy Politano, of North Fort Myers, Fla., was charged with felony child neglect Friday after leaving an 11-month-old girl in a car while she went into a grocery store.

Store employees said they saw the girl crying in the car and were able to rescue her before police arrived. Outside temperature were upward of 85 degrees.

Politano told police she intended to run into the store for a few minutes to buy some meat for dinner, but said there were too many specials to pass up.

When medical personnel asked Politano to give the child something to drink, she reportedly reached into her car and grabbed a bottle of spoiled formula.

Politano was released on $1,500 bond.

Who leaves their 11 month old child in the car while they grocery shop???? I am so frustrated at the number of incompetent parents out there. This is the first abandoned baby story this week, but there were 2 last week (1 died, 1 was saved) and 3 the week before.

Are you telling me that you took the time to load the baby and all of their gear into the car before the trip began but can’t remember that the child is there when you get to your destination?

In this case, you were just too lazy to remove them from their car seat and pop them into the shopping cart while you pick up dinner?

They spend 10 months growing in your belly, many months after that growing and thriving and then you just leave them in the car while you shop for an hour…I just don’t get it.

Jillian Barberie and Grant Reynolds Welcome A Baby Girl

Congratulations to Jillian Barberie and husband Grant Reynold on the safe arrival of their first baby. Ruby Raven Reynolds was born at 5 p.m. on Friday – just a day before she was due, weighing 6 lbs. and 12 oz.

The couple are said to be “overjoyed, ecstatic and so in love.”

In December, Barberie told PEOPLE: “My husband thinks it’s a boy. I saw him on the monitor and he was boxing! It could be a girl – a little tomboy, which I kind of was.”

Barberie plans to take three months of maternity leave before returning to her co-hosting duties on Good Day L.A.
