5th Minnesota Sextuplet Dies

It has been almost a month since I have written on the Morrison Sextuplets.

I am sad to report that a fifth baby has passed away.

Lucia Rae Morrison was born June 10 along with her sister and four brothers at 22 weeks gestation. Lucia’s sister and three of her brothers died in June.

The sextuplets’ parents are Ryan and Brianna Morrison, of St. Louis Park, Minn.

Their surviving son, Sylas Christopher, remains in critical condition at Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis.

Please pray that this family gets to bring Silas home. Regardless of how the babies were conceived, they were made with love and these parents deserve to have a baby at the end of their tiring and very sad road.

They will be in my thoughts and prayers. I hope that doctors are able to work miracles on their last remaining baby.

South African Baby Born With Four Legs Dies After Surgery

I am shocked to report that the baby that was born in Africa earlier this month with 4 legs didn’t make it through surgery and passed away.

When she was born doctors believed that the surgery would be staright forward and that the infant would have a chance at a normal life.

The girl, who was born near the northeastern town of Polokwane, died late last week “following complications in her stomach after the operation,” provincial health department spokesman Phuti Seloba told AFP.

Health officials had expressed confidence ahead of the operation that the youngster “can pull through”.

Jayden James Goes Boating

Baby Jayden James was seen over the weekend with his mom and brother Sean Preston over the weekend in Marina Del Ray.

Jayden Rides in the Britax Roundabout Car seat which would have not been my first choice because it only holds your child in 5 point up to 33 pounds. Other celebrities and our family, have chosen the Britax Decathalon due to it’s ability to hold your baby in 5 point for up to 48lbs.

The OTHER thing is that JJ is forward facing which is NOT recommended until your child is over 22lbs and ONE YEAR OLD.

The reason is because, regardless of the size of the baby, the neck muscles are insufficiently developed to handle the impact of a car crash while forward facing. (In fact, I know of some car seat safety places that recommend keeping your child rear-facing for as long as possible because of the lesser impact in the event of a crash.

Expectant Florida Mom Of sextuplets ‘Feeling Great’

Karoline Baylor is set to become the first mother to deliver sextuplets in the state of Florida.

She is currently 23 weeks along and not on bedrest.

In order to keep her healthy she is on a whack of meds including:

Progesterone shots to keep her hormone levels steady. Folic acid to keep the babies healthy. Prevacid to control her heartburn. And now, blood thinner shots to head off clots and an antibiotic for a pesky urinary tract infection.

She can stand up long enough to shower, go to the bathroom, fix a quick meal. She went to the grocery store with her husband once, but rode a scooter. Her swelling has been kept to a minimum. She spends most of the day in nightgowns and passes time surfing the Internet. Summer reruns and soaps bore her. The television stays on CNN because “at least it’s new.”

The babies are doing well and are all well over a pound each.

All six hearts beat strong. Babies A, D and F, the lone girl, weighed in at about 1 pound, 6 ounces. Baby C is the leader at 1 pound, 7 ounces, with babies B and E each weighing 1 pound, 5 ounces. All weights were normal for 23 weeks of gestation.

The Bylers expected to find out Wednesday when Karoline would be hospitalized for the rest of the pregnancy, but they didn’t get an answer.

Her doctor wants her to stay at home as long as possible and advises her to continue eating small, frequent meals.

Sextuplets carry a lot more risk. Primary among them are premature labor, hypertension, bleeding, anemia and gestational diabetes. The babies also are at greater risk for birth defects.

Karoline is doing well and feeling unusually great. Her Doctor is now seeing her weekly to make sure that everything is growing well inutero.

Like the other couples who have recently had mega multiples, the Bylers have chosen to go the donation and fundraiser route. Their big planned event is touted at “Tampa Bay’s Biggest Baby Shower”, with a carnival like theme. On the official flyer they request donations in many forms including donating your talent for entertainment, contributing to the diaper drive or purchasing a gift card from selected department stores.

Chihuahua Protects Baby From Rattlesnake

When you think of a Chihuahua you don’t think of a guard dog or protector. The small 5-7 lb dogs are know for their tiny frame and less that cheery welcome, but not their gladiator skills.

Zoey is a Chihuahua, but when a rattlesnake lunged at her owners’ 1-year-old grandson, she was a real bulldog.

Booker West was splashing his hands in a birdbath in his grandparents’ northern Colorado back yard when the snake slithered up to the toddler, rattled and struck. Five-pound Zoey jumped in the way and took the bites.

“She got in between Booker and the snake, and that’s when I heard her yipe,” Monty Long, the boy’s grandfather, said Thursday.

The dog required treatment and for a time it appeared she might not survive the bites she suffered earlier this month. Now she prances about.

“These little bitty dogs, they just don’t really get credit,” Booker’s grandma Denise Long told the Loveland Daily Reporter-Herald.

You know that this dog’s days of sleeping on the floor or in a cage are OVER. She jsut landed herself a one-way ticket to the penthouse.

Cordless Animal Night Lights

I have a bit of an affection for great night lights. I recently did a post on all different types of light nights that you could purchase with for your child. I didn’t see this one while researching, so here it is.

These colour changing animal lights are cool to the touch, fully portable and cordless, so children can carry them on night time trips to the loo. With a rechargeable base, they last up to eight hours once charged. Height:15cm. Choose from Panda, Rabbit or Dog or Elephant.

I like these lights because they are simular to a teddy bear. They do double duty in your child’s room by lighting it up at night and keeping them company during the day!

I found them at bloomingmarvellous.co.uk for £22.99
